Published - I Was Once Walking And Saw This

I Was Once Walking and Saw This is an artist’s picture book.  It was conceived and developed by the author to teach himself how to publish a book so as to publish his daughter’s graphic novel. Since the author, a lawyer by trade, paints as a serious avocation, he took his paintings and added poems.  Allan Alongi’s debut book presents 33 vivid, color-soaked paintings.   Each painting’s title rolls into a poetic reflection.  Some poems are silly, some more observant.  They all riff on the painting and philosophy.  The result is an arguably new-style art book for the coffee table or waiting room.

Published - Drawn To World Order

Exerpt from Introduction.
I concluded it might take a little more than my painting/poems and my one longer poem to reach World Order so I also included a list of the sort of issues for consideration, which I find worth one’s effort. These are just subjects I find interesting, so that if considered with some regularity and with some intensity, I have confidence these will help create World Order. I can’t say they will completely sort out World Order, but I think with these subjects, this poem “Vote”, and the pages of this book, one may come close. Perhaps I’m an optimist.

Published - A Whirling Planet

If this book were broken down into its parts:
Paintings, poetry, civic engagement.
University class making such a book.
A curriculum.

Students. A series of paintings.
Draw out a statement.
Might find they have a message. Reverse.
Make art and poetry to fit message.

Interdisciplinary cooperation.
A cohesive message.
Civic engagement.
All for the greater good.

Is the idea transferable?
Science, technology, engineering and math.
A biologist or physicist that paints or writes poetry, yes?
Wondering.
